Navratri is a nine-day festival in which nine forms of Goddess Durga are worshipped. People in different parts of the country celebrate this same festival differently. Though they worship the same deity, performing different rituals.
When it’s about celebrating the 9 avatars of women, let’s look at how these goddesses teach us so many things that stand true in today’s diverse, progressive world as well!
Fearlessness
The word Durga, from the word ‘durgam’ itself, embodies fearlessness. It connotes the inner strengths. Goddess Durga rides a tiger – it’s a metaphor showing – A fearless being can go on to tame problems and situations even as fierce as a tiger and come out the winner.
Approach everything without self-doubt and receive all the challenges head-on. Never doubt your inner strength and go on!
Adaptability
When we celebrate 9 avatars of the same goddess, what does it tell us? When in a managerial position, you have to wear different hats.
Every challenge needs a different set of skills and the more you look at it from a different lense, the better it is. Sometimes be tender, be empathetic and come up with a way, sometimes be strong, to the point and get the task done.
Be your own Strong Link
Just how one Goddess Durga binds millions of hearts together in worship and faith – be the glue, the link that binds people together. Unravelers lose their raison d’etre very quickly.
Be a memorable one, prove your hard work, and don’t be shy to take chances.
Vision and composure
Goddess Durga’s big eyes represent her 360 degree vision and ability to face any situation. As a leader, or even an employee, if you are more proactive rather than reactive to the tasks, you can go a long way!
Multitasking
Durga goddess’s 8 hands represent her ability to manage more than one task effortlessly. Even though there’s an ongoing debate whether women are naturally better at multitasking or they just end up doing more work overall Durga teaches us the ability to complete more than one task with the same efficiency.
Gender independent
One of the most famous stories we all read growing up is about mahishasura and Durga. Remember – When all other powerful Gods failed to stop the unstoppable demon Mahishasura, the supreme too had to take a form of Goddess Durga to vanquish the unconquerable.
When you take uo new and challenging responsibilities, you channelize your inner Durga towards fulfilling them and come out as a winner! So, never say no to a new challenge!
Warmth and empathy
Self – confidence
Women tend to doubt their own ability before approaching many things. Durga teaches us how to have faith in ourselves. If anything can be imbibed from it, is the fact that even the most powerful of the gods-Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh, needed a strong, powerful Goddess Durga to come to the forefront and slay the evil.
Destroy negative/evil emotions
Durga Maa teaches us to destroy all our negative and evil emotions from our thoughts, words, and deeds. She teaches us to fight and conquer all our inner demons like self- doubt, anger, ego, prejudice, hatred, and jealousy and replace them with love, admiration, sharing, forgiveness, and understanding. She is a real epitome of love and affection.
Once you have conquered it, it’s simpler to focus on more important things and pave a way for positivity for you and for others.
